This is an ideal place for families, snorkelers, scuba divers, or just for sightseeing and relaxation. You can snorkel in water that is seldom more than waist deep just outside the front door. The coral and fish are beautiful. You can also snorkel in Yal Koo Lagoon with beautiful fish of all kinds less than a quarter mile away. Two dive shops provide scuba trips as well as PADI certified instruction in all kinds of diving. Cavern dives are thrilling. (Only an open-water certification is required.)

Two 18-hole championship golf courses are nearby.

Beautiful sandy beaches are ideal for children, and when the parents need a break they can leave their children at a play area with certified child care workers.

The average daytime temperatures are 80 deg. in winter and 90 deg. in summer.

Mayan ruins are nearby. The most spectacular are Tulum on the ocean and Coba somewhat inland. The famous Chichen Itza ruins are a few-hours drive. They are memorable excursions.

There are many fine restaurants, and all their offerings - including salads and ice water - are safe to eat and drink. Grocery stores are nearby for those who wish to eat in.
