One of Mexico’s most relaxed destinations…
Nine bays, thirty six beaches, crystal clear water, rainforest,
waterfalls, modern resort, fine dining…
The condo
This ocean-front condo with full Tangolunda Bay view is located on
the property of a beautiful and meticulously managed four star
Mediterranean-style Camino Real hotel. Condo guests enjoy the same
privileges as the hotel guests including access to all of the hotel
amenities: 1,300 feet (400m) long private sand beach, three fine
restaurants, three bars, two swimming pools, tennis court,
gymnasium, and massage room. Eighty meters (260 feet) to the ocean.
The resort
Bahias de Huatulco is the newest resort built by Fonatur (National
Trust Fund for Tourism Development), Mexico’s government tourism
development agency. It is located on the Pacific coast of the
southwestern Mexican state of Oaxaca, at the foot of the southern tip
of Sierra Madre del Sur Mountains, about 250 miles southwest of
Acapulco. With mostly sunny days and an average annual temperature of
82F (28C), Huatulco combines comfort and contemporary luxury with a
natural setting of rainforest jungle, waterfalls and pristine rivers.
It is the largest ecological reserve designated by the Mexican
government, making it a truly a unique tourist destination which
combines a very modern resort infrastructure within a large
undeveloped natural area.
Huatulco is truly one of the most beautiful areas on the Mexican
Pacific Coast. It stretches from East to West along 18 miles of
coastline and encompasses nine pristine bays, Conejos, Tangolunda,
Chahue, Santa Cruz, Maguey, Organo, Cacaluta, Chachacual and San
Agustin. So far three major bays have been developed, Tangolunda,
Santa Cruz, and Chahue.
Tangolunda Bay is home to luxury hotels (Camino Real Zaashila and
Quinta Real being the best), two commercial centers, restaurants, and
an 18-hole golf course.
The hotel facilities:
- Two swimming pools (one of them is a unique 130 yards long
free-form)
- Pool for little children
- Outdoor jacuzzi
- Tennis court
- Massage cabin
- Fitness room
- Gift shop
- Baby-sitting service (upon request)
- Reception hall
- Business center with two computers, printer and internet access
- Meeting rooms
- 24-hour room service
- Taxi service
- Currency exchange service
Where to eat:
While in Huatulco, try typical Oaxacan cuisine, one of the most
exquisite in Mexico. You will find three fine restaurants at the
hotel
offering international and Mexican delicacies:
Chez Binni
The most select dishes from the international cuisine with a delicate
regional touch plus the Nouvelle Cuisine from Oaxaca.
Open from 6:00 pm till 11:00 pm
Club De Playa
The freshest seafood and region’s specialties. It features a private
pool and a magnificent view of the Tangolunda Bay.
Open from 12 noon till 6:00 pm.
Bel La Grill
Another fantastic view of the bay. Traditional American & Mexican
buffet breakfast.
Open from 7:00 am till 11:30 am for breakfast and Bar service from
11:00 am till 6:00 pm. Theme dinner (depends on season).
There is also a very good Las Cupulas restaurant at a nearby Quinta
Real hotel (a 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes by taxi). Serves
international and regional cuisine indoors or on the terrace
overlooking the bay. Breathtaking view.
Weather
Huatulco has a blissful climate that even Acapulco could envy. It’s
mostly sunny, somewhat humid, days in the 80s. June through
September
is the rainy season with most rain falling in September. However,
Huatulco only averages around 40 rain days a year. Rains usually are
short and intensive, and fall at night. Locals consider October the
best month of the year. The driest months are January and February.
What To Wear
Shorts, sandals, sunscreen.

Activities and Attractions
Besides enjoying Camino Real Zaashila’s secluded beach, pool,
jacuzzi,

hotel travel agency (or through many travel agencies at the nearby La
Crucecita town), including, but not limited to:
- Boat tour of the bays
- Snorkeling
- Scuba diving
- Deep sea fishing
- Jet skiing
- Four hour ATV tour through the rainforest jungle
- Rappelling the walls of Punta Celeste, Piedra de Moros and the
waterfalls of the Copalita river
- Rafting through the rapids of the Copalita River.
- Hiking
- Golf
- Horseback riding
- Tour to the coffee plantations where "Pluma," the best coffee in
Mexico is grown
- Tour to historic Oaxaca (by plane or bus)
- Shop for silver and arts in the three neighboring towns (a $3 taxi
ride from the hotel)
- Surfing enthusiasts can visit Puerto Escondido, one of the top four
world championship surfing places. It is just 50 miles away, and a
rental car is about $30 a day.
Snorkeling
A very good snorkeling is at La Entrega beach, but almost everywhere
along the coast you will find coral reefs and rich marine life to
give
you an unforgettable snorkeling experience. San Augustin, Chahue and
Maguey bays are particularly good.
Deep Sea Fishing
Yellowfin tuna and big mahi-mahi (dorado, bull-dolphin) season is
from
the end of November until March. Then until the end of May the
fishing
is slower, but still good. You can catch mahi-mahi, wahoo, smaller
yellowfin tuna.
Sailfish season starts in June and peaks in July and August. July is
also good for blue marlin that you can catch just about 5 miles from
shore.
Scuba Diving
Cacaluta Bay and La Montosa Reefs, El Tigre and the sunken ship at El
Bufadero are excellent spots for diving.
Sailing
Harness the wind and sail the sea on the 44-foot sailboat, Luna Azul.
It will take you to some of the quiet, scenic bays, not accessible by
car, where you can swim, fish, or just lay out in the sun. Snorkeling
equipment is also available if you want to view some of the beautiful
coral that thrives in the area.
Golf
The resort has a golf club (Campo de Golf Tangolunda) open to public,
which is located within 5-7 minutes walk from the condo. This golf
course has the reputation of being one of the best public courses in
Mexico (18-hole golf course par 72, championship category with 6,851
yards). The course offers you both challenge and beauty. From the
last
hole you can enjoy a panoramic view of Tangolunda Bay.
For a taste of small town Mexican life with Oaxacan flavor visit
three
nearby towns: Santa María Huatulco, Santa Cruz and La Crucecita (a $3
taxi ride from the hotel). There you can shop for silver and local
arts, and enjoy some typical Oaxacan food at the local restaurants.
How to get there
You can fly to Huatulco from Mexico City (45 min flight with
Mexicana)
or direct from some US cites, such as Houston, San Diego, Los Angeles
and Chicago. You may also look at charter service from Mexico City
which offers considerable savings (Magnicharter).
