Vail is one of those few destinations that can boast the ambiance of a world-class ski resort and a self-contained pedestrian village, making it a perfect environment for people of all ages and all budges. Outdoorsy, yet sophisticated, Vail offers European charm in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. With 34 lifts and over 5000 acres of terrain, Vail is enormous, promising that you’ll never get bored. Vail’s frontside, raising up from the base of the village, offers groomed glades and bowls with a mix of terrain for all levels and abilities. Advanced and intermediate skiers should be sure to access Vail’s ungroomed back bowls. To enjoy it’s fresh powder, make it your first stop of the day, since it takes up to an hour to reach it from the main village areas. Snowboarders will enjoy the four terrain parks with manmade obstacles and the 400-foot-long Superpipe.
Vail is a popular year-round resort with an abundance of festivals in the off-peak months: Vail Arts Festival in August, the Jazz Festival or Octoberfest in September. The mountain comes into full bloom in June and July, reaching daytime highs of 75 degrees. A great way to enjoy the mountain is from the Eagle Bahn gondola which accesses the hiking and biking trails in the summer months and even offers free scenic rides after 2:00 during the winter ski season.
